Cthulhu Idol Mug, Verdant Decay

$99.00
Only 1 available

A handmade Cthulhu idol mug inspired by the cult figure described in The Call of Cthulhu.

This sculptural ceramic vessel is based on H.P. Lovecraft’s original depiction of the Great Old One, reimagined as a functional piece of barware. The form reflects the strange, crouching idol worshipped by hidden cults—something ancient, deliberate, and evil.

Designed for cocktails, rum drinks, or beer, the mug balances strong sculptural presence with real usability.

Each piece is individually made and glazed in my studio, with layered surface variation that gives it a weathered, organic character—somewhere between stone, growth, and decay.

Details:

– Handmade ceramic tiki mug / cocktail vessel

– Sculpted Cthulhu idol form (artist-made, not mass-produced)

– Approx. 18 oz capacity (ideal for cocktails or beer)

– Durable, dishwasher-safe construction

– Food-safe glaze

– Signed by the artist

– Made in my original California studio

Glaze – “Verdant Decay”

A mottled green surface with natural variation into earthy beige and brown tones, evoking organic growth and slow transformation over time.

This glaze is the direct evolution of the very first version of this mug, originally released as “Mottled Green.” It represents the earliest iteration of the Cthulhu idol design, refined but still rooted in the original concept.

Each piece will differ slightly, with unique patterning and depth of color.

Important:

Glaze variation is intentional—no two mugs will look exactly like the photos.

Ideal for collectors of Lovecraft, cosmic horror, and unique handmade barware, or for anyone drawn to dark, organic ceramic forms.

I am a ceramic artist and former craft/tiki bartender. This was the first mug I ever sculpted — initially in 2015, then refined slightly into the version I've made ever since (which is why the bottoms are stamped 2016). It remains the foundation of my work. I've since relocated from my original Port Costa, California studio to Frederick, Maryland, where new pieces are now made. This particular mug is from the original California run.
